Seniors win Championship first round tie 24th July'10 Kilmoyley's seniors had an unconvincing victory over beaten 2009 semifinalists Abbeydorney in this first round county championship tie at Austin Stack park on Saturday evening. Despite a positive start which saw the winners lead by three points to nil playing with a breeze after ten minutes, Kilmoyley's general play was lacklustre up front as they left many scoring chances go to waste.By half time there was only four points between the sides.
The defending champions stretched their lead to five points after ten minutes but an Abbeydorney goal, from a penalty brought the crowd to their feet. But Kilmoyley's composure saw them contain Abbeydorney to two other points and in the end held out for a 0-15 to 1-8 win. Kilmoyley now advance to meet Crotta O'Neills in the "winners" round following their second half resurrection against Causeway. In the other games, St. Brendans overcame Ballyheigue while Ballyduff defeated Lixnaw. (full match report soon)

North Kerry title eludes U21s 20th July'10 Kilmoyley's U21s had a disappointing display against Crotta O'Neills in the North Kerry Paddy Kelly memorial championship, losing by 4-11 to 3-7. Kilmoyley fell behind in the first minute and struggled to cope with the pace of the crotta boys. Kilmoyley Centre back Adrian Royle did his best to counter any attacks but a number of easy frees handed the winners the initiative. At the other end, Kilmoyley's forwards did not make the most of their posession and should have taken a couple of goal chances. Just before the break, full forward John B O'Halloran did find the net to leave Kilmoyley just one point behind at the break 1-6 to 1-5.

Kilmoyley started the second half well with O'Halloran at the centre of the action, scoring 1-1 inside the first five mintes to give Kilmoyley the lead. Andy McCarthy too was giving his all, but too often the ball came out of the Crotta defence far too easy and Kilmoyley began to lose their grip. Up front for Crotta, Shane Nolan and Sean Weir proved difficult to mark as our defence conceded a number of frees to bring the sides level. Nolan showed why he is one of Kerry's future stars with a well taken goal to give his side the lead going into the final quarter. It was all Crotta after that as a goalkeeping error handed Crotta another goal. A late Vincent Savage goal narrowed the gap, but Crotta were not going to be denied as captain Darren Twomey accepted the trophy.

Intermediates disappoint in Championship semi 16th July'10 Our Intermediates made a tame exit from this years county championship going down by 3-14 to 0-11 to Kilgarvan at Lewis road on Friday evening. Although Kilmoyley were short a number of regulars, Kilmoyley never really got going in this semi final tie and the game was effectively over at the break as we trailed by 1-11 to 0-3. An improved second half display only put some gloss on the final scoreline, but there were few of our players who would have been satisfied with their performance. It was a disappointing end to a good year for the side who won the county league.

U13s defeated in NK league 16th July'10 Kilmoyley's U13s went down by seven points away to Ballyduff in their second round game of the North Kerry league. The travelling side made a very poor start, conceding five goals in the first quarter. But following a number of positional switches, Kilmoyley hurled with great heart and determination and clawed their way back into the game to draw level at the half time break. Kilmoyley continued to play well but the home side took advantage of the breeze to run out winners.
Following their first round defeat to Ballyheigue, we cannot now qualify for the final, but a good performance against Abbeydorney in the final game would be just reward for the players.

Defeat for U16s in County league 30th June'10 Once again Causeway proved too strong for an understrength Kilmoyley side on Monday. Kilmoyley had to start with three u13s, but they battled well throughout the game despite their lack of physical strength. In the end, the home side ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 5-12 to 3-4.

Kilmoyley U12s in Croke park 13th July'10 Our U12 hurlers enjoyed a wonderful day at Croke park on Tuesday. The side played three games, winning two on the hallowed turf. It will certainly be a day that they will remember for a long time.

U16s defeated in County league 30th June'10 Kilmoyley's under 16s suffered their second defeat in a week when they lost to Causeway in a high scoring game in wet conditions in Kilmoyley. The visiting side strarted strongly and were a goal up inside a few minutes following a defensive error. They continued to dominate a much younger Kilmoyley team despite some good performances from Peter Crowe, Dougie Fitzell and Daniel Collins. Despite a strong finish by Kilmoyley the final deficit was eleven points with the score ending Causeway 7-13 Kilmoyley 4-11. Kilmoyley's goals came from Dougie Fitzell, Paudie O'Connor and Daniel Collins (2). Kilmoyley team : Paudie O'Connor, Shane Monahan, Coleman Savage, Niall Meehan, John Godley, Dougie Fitzell, Robert Collins, Florence McCarthy, Daniel Collins, Kieran McCarthy, Peter Crowe, Jordan Brick, Paudie Godley, Eoin McCarthy, Robert McElligott. subs: Sean Curran, Emmet Meehan.

Nervous win for minors in county league 27th June'10 Despite leading by ten points to three at half time, Kilmoyley were lucky in the end to come away from this tie against St.Brendans with a victory as they found themselves in arrears with time running out. But a strong finish pushed them over the line and they ended with a 2-12 to 3-8 win.

Intermediates crowned county league champions 26th June'10 Congratulations to the Kilmoyley Intermediate team who won the County hurling league division 2 final at Austin Stacks Park last Saturday evening, with a hard fought 1-16 to 1-12 victory over Dr Crokes. Congratulations and well done to all involved. Team – Aidan McCabe (capt), Joe O Sullivan, Pat Deenihan, John Paul O Mahony, Sean Griffin, David Fitzell, Jason Fealy, Brendan Harris, Sean Dowling(0-1), Conor Fitzell(0-2), Adrian Ryle(0-1), Sean Flaherty(0-2), Luke Fitzell(0-2), Gerry Carroll(1-1), Andy McCarthy(0-7), Tommy Maunsell, Sean Godley and TJ Maunsell. Team management Mike Flaherty, Gerry Carroll and TJ Maunsell.

Kilmoyley crowned Cumann na mBunscoil skills winners 13th June'10 Congratulations to Kilmoyley's Cumann na mBunscoil hurling skills team who won the overall county skills competition at Austin Stack park on Saturday. This is a wonderful achievement for the team of Sean Curran, Kieran McCarthy and Robert Collins and is the twelvth time the school has won. Sean also won silver in the individual competition. There was double gold for the scool with Jessica Fitzell winning the girls individual skills competition. Congratulations to all.
Some past winners to note are Kerry Senior Hurling panelists Shane Brick(1993), Michael Conway(1995), Shaun Young(1998) and Shane Nolan(2003). Kilmoyley's David Brick & Padraig Sheehy (1992) were the only pairing to finish up level in the event. Sean Godley(2005), Edward Fitzgerald(2001)(Kilury school) and Brendan Harris(1996) were other individual winners. While Sean Godley's Record remains intact of being the only person to complete a 100% score in the final.

Defeat for Seniors in NK C'ship QF 8th June'10 Kilmoyley were defeated 2-14 to 0-19 by Crotta in the quarter final of the North Kerry championship at Kilmoyley on Tuesday evening. Despite having a near full strength team, Kilmoyley put in a very disappointing first half performance in which they were outscored 2-11 to 0-7. Despite a decent second half comeback, Kilmoyley never led their opponents at any stage and lost by the narrowest of margins in the end.

Kerry hurlers seek Christy Ring final place 4th June'10 Kilmoyley have three players on the starting team that play Wicklow in the first of the Christy Ring semi-finals on Saturday at Nenagh. Colin Harris at right corner back captains the team, Tom Murnane fills in at full back while James Godley plays at right half back. Although Kerry are overwhelming favourites, they will be well aware that the county has yet to feature in the final of the competition. But John Meyler will have his side well drilled and prepared for this games that starts at 3.30pm.

U12s defeated in Co league duv. 2 final 27th May '10 There was no joy for Kilmoyley's U12s at Lixnaw on Thursday as they went down 3-5 to 3-1 against Dr. Crokes. A sudden downpour at the outset did not upset the players who played some excellent hurling on a quality pitch. From early on, Kilmoyley were under pressure as their more physical opponents played the better hurling. Kilmoyley full back Eamon Dowling did his best to contain a much bigger full forward while Maurice O'Connor and Phil Maunsell hurled with great gusto throughout. But by halftime, Kilmoyley found themselves 3-3 to nil down and prospects of a miracle looked bleak.
Shortly after the re-start Kilmoyley were awarded a free on halfway that went all the way to the net. This goal settled the side and gave them new life. Eamon Dowling was moved to full forward and the switch made an immediate impact as he won a number of frees. One of these frees was finished to the net by sub Ronan Godley to bring Kilmoyley right back into the game. New Kilmoyley full back David McCarthy excelled in his new position as he cleared ball after ball from defence. With quarter of the game remaining, the impossible seemed possible as a third Kilmoyley goal left only three points between the sides. Folllowing some advice from County senior selctor Seanie O'Shea, Crokes made a number of switches notably at goalkeeper position which proved decisive as he made one great save with his shin. Another shot hit his shoulder to fly over the bar but this was after Crokes added two pointed frees. Kilmoyley also had a goal disallowed but it was not to be their night despite a great effort. Well done to all the players and team management Joe Walsh, Edward Fitzgerald and Tom Godley.

Defeat for U16s in County league opener 20th April '10 Kilmoyley's U16s made a losing start to their County league campaign with a 6-6 to 1-10 defeat away to a much stronger Lixnaw side. The home team had three early wides before they opened their account with a point on five minutes. Kilmoyley replied with a pointed free from Daniel Collins, but Lixnaw replied immediately with a goal. Both sides swapped points, then Robert McElligott narrowed the deficit with a well taken point. But three wides by Kilmoyley meant they went in three points down at the break 1-4 to 0-4.

Playing with their jerseys turned inside out because of the jersey clash, Kilmoyley started brightly with a point. However, the home side replied immediately with a second goal. Kilmoyley added a point but a third goal by Lixnaw put more daylight between the sides, only for Daniel Collins to goal frm a 21metre free. Bt the game ended as a contest in a three minute spell when Lixnaw added a further 2-1 from play. Kilmoyley added four points in the closing ten minutes but Lixnaw were worthy winners. This was Kilmoyley's first game in the competition, and they look like they will be under pressure to qualify for the knockout stages, but the experience gained by this young side (four players are under 13) will stand to them.
Kilmoyley team:- Emmet Meehan, Shane Monahan, Coleman Savage, Niall Meehan, Peter Crowe, Dougie Fitzell, John Godley, Florence McCarthy, James Murphy, Jordan Brick, Eoin McCarthy, Paudie O'Connor, Robert Collins, Daniel Collins, Robert McElligott, Kieran McCarthy, Sean Curran.

Kerry hurlers win promotion to NHL Div 2 11th April '10 Fourteen-man Kerry made an instant return to Division 2 of the NHL with a 2-18 to 1-15 win over Derry on Saturday after late goals from James Flaherty and James McCarthy helped them to the Division 3A title at Derry's expense in Woodmount, Co. Roscommon. Despite having full forward Gary O'Brien red carded after twenty minutes, Kerry pulled off the win, who were also without top scorer Shane Brick and corner back Andrew Keane through injury.
Young gun Darragh O'Connell also made a huge contribution to the Kingdom's success by firing over 12 points, including nine frees and one '65'. John Meyler's Kerry side looked to be cruising to victory when they led by eight points early in the second half, but Derry closed the gap to three points with five minutes remaining. It then took a superb goal by Flaherty and another moments later from the long-serving McCarthy to secure the title for the Munster side. Kerry had raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead before their full forward Gary O'Brien was red-carded. Despite their numerical disadvantage, they led by 0-12 to 0-5 at the interval, but Derry fought back in the second half and the free-taking of Ruairi Convery and Paddy McCloskey's 52nd minute goal saw them close the gap before Kerry finished with a flourish. The final score could have been a lot closer however, had Derry not missed two penalties.

But John Meyler will be pleased with his sides effort and can start planning for life in Division two in 2011. Once again Kilmoyley was well represented with keeper John B O'Halloran saving two penalties, Colin Harris at corner back as solid as ever.James Godley excelled in the unfamiliar position, for him, of wing back while Tom Murnane was one of Kerry's best players on the day. Midfielder Eoin Sheehy worked hard throughout the game and sub James McCarthy secured Kerry's win with a late goal. Well done to all.

U14s qualify for Co league semi 11th April '10 Kilmoyley's U14s ended their county league division 2 round of games with a 5-4 to 1-5 win over Crotta O'Neills at Mountcoal on Saturday. They now qualify for the semi-final stages of the competition but must wait until next weekends round of games, when we have a bye, to find out the opposition. Played in wonderful sunshine, there was little between the teams throughout the game, but Kilmoyley's ability to score goals made the difference in the end. David McCarthy bagged a hatrick while Shane Monahan and Eoin McCarthy scored one each. While it was not a convincing display by Kilmoyley, it is encouraging that they can win games without playing their best. Team: Eamon Dowling, Fiachra King, Paudie Godley, Maurice O'Connor, Emmet Meehan, Eoin McCarthy, Robert Collins, Kieran McCarthy, Darren Godley, Liam Claffey, Jordan Brick, Sean Curran, Mark Lynch, Shane Monahan, David McCarthy, Robert Harrington, Michael Leen, John O'Mahony, Sean Regan, Richard Flaherty.

No All-Ireland double for Causeway Comp 4th April '10 The fairytale ending did not come true for Causeway Comprehensive as they went down to Bannagher of Offaly at Semple Stadium on Saturday by 3-17 to 2-9. The Kerry boys can have no complaints with the result, as they were comprehensively outplayed by their opponents. Causeway were always chasing the game, finding it difficult to cope with Bannaghers pace and power in the middle of the park. In fact Causeway's only scores in the first half came from placed balls. With the breeze to their backs after the break, the Kerry side did their best to match Bannagher bur fell 11 points behind as the game went into the final quarter. Causeway did rally with two goals, one from Kilmoyley's Daniel Collins. But Bannagher pulled away in the closing stages. It was a disappointing end to Causeway's season, but they can feel very proud of their wonderful achievements this year. Well done to the Kilmoyley boys involved Luke and Dougie Fitzell, Daniel Collins, captain Tommy Maunsell and Timothy O'Brien, and also to Maurice Fitzgerald for his involvement with the team.

Mixed week for underage teams 4th April '10 Kilmoyley's U12s and U14s were in action this weekend and had contrasting results. On Friday the U12s played Crotta at home and were well beaten by a much stronger team despite a great effort. The U14s got back to winning ways against St. Brendans in round 3 of the County league after the previous week's defeat to Lixnaw. Playing with the wind in the first half, Kilmoyley established a 2-6 to 1-1 lead, and despite not scoring in the second period the home side held out for a 2-6 to 2-3 win.

Intermediates win on first outing 1st April '10 Our Intermediates got their year off to a winning start with a big win over Ballyheigue. Kilmoyley were always in control of this tie and with Michael Meehan scoring 2-2 a new target man may have been uncovered.

Second defeat for Kilmoyley Seniors 28th March '10 Kilmoyley's interest in the North Kerry league ended with a one point defeat against Causeway on Sunday on a scoreline of 3-10 to 3-9. It was an indefferent display from the reigning county champions who trailed 3-8 to 0-6 at one stage. But a second half fightback saw the home side lead by one point as the game moved into the final stages. However, two late points by Causeway was enough to secure the win.

With a number of Kilmoyley players involved with Kerry on Saturday, the side was short a number of regulars. Brendan Harris was in fine form with frees and scored early on, but Causeway added a couple of their own to lead and added a goal through a rebound from a free. They were awarded a penalty soon afet which was also converted. Kilmoyley eventually improved at this stage and kept in touch with Harris' frees plus a few others from play. By half time, there were four points between the teams. Kilmoyley scored immediately after the break through Tom Murnane, but Causeway continued on their way with a number of points from play. A defensive error gifted Causeway a third goal which seemed to seal their win, but credit to Kimoyley who fought back and scored three goals by Tom Murnane, Brendan Harris and Andy McCarthy. As the game reached the final stages, the home side took the lead through a free, but the two final points from the visitors sealed their win. Kilmoyley team :- Aidan McCabe, Seanie Murnane, Ian Brick, Joseph O'Sullivan, Jason Fealy, James Godley, Adrian Royle, David Fitzell, Brendan Harris, Niall Young, James MCarthy, Tom Murnane, Padraig O'Sullivan, John B O'Halloran, Conor Fitzell. subs Andy McCarthy, Gavin O'Connor, Sean Dowling, Pat Deenihan, Michael Meehan

Kilmoyley Under 14s off go down in co league 27th March '10 Kilmoyley went down to Lixnaw 4-8 to 2-6 in round 2 of the County league at Kilmoyley last Saturday. Kilmoyley were well in contention and trailed by just a single point at the break, with David McCarthy scoring a goal. An early second half goal by Mark Griffin put the home side two points in front, but an instant reply by Lixnaw left Kilmoyley deflated and they did not raise their game for the remainder of the half. It was a disappointing result considering there were some brilliant performances particularly by our full back line, while Eoin and Kieran McCarthy also tried hard. Next Saturday Kilmoyley play St. Brendans at home at 6pm. Kilmoyley team: - Robert McElligott, Fiachra King, Paudie Godley, Maurice O'Connor, Emmet Meehan, Eoin McCarthy, Mark Griffin, Kieran McCarthy, Robert Collins, Mark Lynch, Jordan Brick, David McCarthy, Liam Claffey, Shane Monahan, Sean Curran, Eamon Dowling, Darren Godley, John O'Mahony, Philip Flaherty, Robert Harrington

Kerry hurlers continue good form 27th March '10 The Kerry senior hurlers continued their good form with a 2-22 to 0-10 victory over Armagh in their final group game of the Allianz NHL. Following this round of games Kerry now meet Derry in the final.

Kilmoyley Under 14s off to winning start 20th March '10U14 Co League Div.2: Kilmoyley enjoyed a winning start to their County league campaign with a comprehensive 4-11 to 0-3 win over Dr. Crokes at Lewis road, Killarney on Saturday. Kilmoyley were the better team throughout and got the first score on the board from Kieran McCarthy who was excellent throughout. The recent spell of dry weater meant there was little grass on the field but both teams did their best considering. Kilmoyley added a goal through Shane Monahan, who added another with a wonderful flick. Dr. Crokes narrowed the gap before halftime, but Kilmoyley stretched their lead with points from Jordan Brick and an Eoin McCarthy '65. Both sides were evenly matched for much of the second half, but Kilmoyley had a great closing quarter spell and added another goal and further points to seal the win. Well done to the players and subs who were introduced. Kilmoyley team : Sean Curran, Fiachra King, Eoin McCarthy (0-2), Maurice O'Connor, Eamon Dowling, Paudie Godley, Mark Griffin, Robert Collins (0-2), Kieran McCarthy (0-4), David McCarthy, Jordan Brick(0-2), Liam Claffey (0-1), Darren Godley, Shane Monahan(3-0), Robert Harrington, Richard Flaherty, Michael Leen, Philip Flaherty, John O'Mahony

Kerry Senior hurlers get third win of NHL 14th March '10 The Kerry Senior hurlers had a comprehensive win over Meath at Austin Stack park today, scoring 3-30 in the process. Boss John Meyler wil be pleased with his sides scoring but knows that there is still plenty of work to be done. Shane Brick had a great display scoring 14 points, while Kilmoyley's other players who lined out today John B.O'Halloran, Colin Harris, James McCarthy and Niall Young also played their part. Next is London away this coming weekend.

Another Munster title for Causeway Comprehensive 13th March '10 Causeway Comprehensive school has produced another wonderful victory, claiming their second Munster "A" title in a week with this 4-13 to 1-8 win over Dromcollogher on Saturday. Kilmoyley had four players on the team in Captain Tommy Maunsell, Luke Fitzell, Dougie Fitzell, Daniel Collins and Timothy O'Brien. They now meet Banagher of Offaly next weekend in the All-Ireland semi-final. Well done to all.

All-Ireland victory for Causeway Comprehensive 6th March '10 Congratulations to the U16 hurlers of Causeway Comprehensive who won back to back All-Ireland Vocational schools titles on Saturday by defeating St. Bridgets of Galway 2-22 to 1-12. We are very proud in Kilmoyley to have had three hurlers; Dougie Fitzell, Coleman Savage and Daniel Collins on the starting team, while James Murphy was also on the panel. This is a fantastic achievement for the school and in particular to trainer Maurice Leahy and manager Willie Dowling and to Kilmoyley's own Maurice Fitzgerald who assisted the team throughout the year.

Depleted seniors go down fighting 6th March '10 Kilmoyley's senior started their year with an away defeat to Ballyduff in the first round of the North Kerry league, but they will not be too disapponited to have lost by 1-11 to 0-9, having started the game with only two of last year's county final team, while their opponents were at near full strength.

U14s perform well in tournament 6th March '10 Kilmoyley's U14s hurlers travelled to Cork last Saturday to take part in the Donal Lordan memorial tournament at the Ballymartle clubgrounds in Riverstick, Co Cork. Kilmoyley played four games in the tournament and acquitted themselves very well against teams from Cork, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. While the team did not bring home the silverware, they can be very pleased with the ir effort on the day.
In their first game, Kilmoyley were unlucky to go down by two late points to Cappoquinn having led throughout the game. Tulla provided the opposition in the second game, and Kilmoyley gave their best performance to win by three points. In their third outing Kilmoyley faced Killenaule and despite leading at the break by 2-3 to 0-2, Kilmoyley tired in the second half and went down by 2 goals. The result of the final game against Naomh Rua of Ballymartle proved immaterial as the finalists had already been decided, but Kilmoyley can be very pleased with their effort despite going down to very good opposition.
This tournament will have given great experience to these players, and will stand to them in the year ahead. Many thanks to the Ballymartle club for their hospitality and to Catherine O'Sullivan, Julie O'Connor and Trish Claffey for looking after the team on the day. Kilmoyley's first outing this year will be away to Dr. Crokes in division two of the County league on March 20th.

Kilmoyley seniors get season underway 1st March '10 This Saturday sees the Kilmoyley seniors get their season underway with an away trip to Ballyduff in the NKL. Kilmoyley will be without their twelve county players so it will be a big ask to even field a team. But it could be an opportunity for last year's fringe players to stake their claim for a position on the team.

Kerry hurlers make it two from two 28th Feb '10 Kerry's senior hurlers maintained their unbeaten start to the Allianz NHL league campaign with a one point win over Mayo at Castlebar. Kilmoyley was once again well represented on the team, and the only change from last week's starting line up was the introduction of Eoin Sheehy for the injured James Godley. Shane Brick was on form again and was Kerry's top scorer, and while Kerry looked comfortable holding a four point lead heading into the closing stages, a late Mayo goal made for a nervous end to the game. But this was a deserved win for the visitors who held the lead throughout most of the game. See Game Report

Another memorable weekend for Kerry hurling 21st Feb '10 It was another weekend to remember for Kerry hurling as two of our teams recorded memorable victories. In Derry, our county's senior hurlers made an encouraging start to their Allianz NHL campaign with a 3-13 to 1-9 win over the locals. Kilmoyley had eight players involved, but star of the show was Darragh O'Connell who scored 2-4 on his league debut. Well done to John Meyler and his team.

Muster title for Causeway Comprehensive 2nd Feb '10 Congratulations to the Causeway Comprehensive U16 hurlers who won their second Munster vocational schools title in a row today at Rathkeale. Causeway started slowly against Roscrea of Tipperary and conceded an early goal and three points, but once they found their feet they dominated until the end of the game allowing their opponents only three further scores, and scoring 6-9 in total themselves. Star of the show was Padraig Boyle of Ballyduff who scored 4-2 of his sides total. Dougie Fitzell and Daniel Collins were on the starting team, with James Murphy, Colman Savage, Florence McCarthy and John Godley also on the panel represented Kilmoyley. Well done to all.

The only committee change was in the position of Secretary where Bernie O'Mahony will take over from the outgoing Maurice Fitzgerald who gave great dedication to the position. Coaches have yet to be assigned for the year. See 2010 committee.

Great night at Kilmoyley GAA Social 10th Jan '10 The annual Kilmoyley social was held in Ballyroe Heights hotel on Saturday night. Despite the very bad weather there was a large attendance on the night. It was a great occasion for the club having won both the Minor and Senior county championships. The night began with an excellent meal. Invited guests Willie Dowling, Sean Walsh, and Pat McTigue spoke very highly of the achievements of the club over the last ten years and wished the club the best of luck for 2010. John Godley introduced each member of the Minor team and they were presented with their championship medals. Medals were also presented for the County League Division 2, Senior North Kerry League and North Kerry Intermediate.

John Martin Brick then introduced the Senior panel and gave a fantastic account of the clubs history over the last ten years. Tom Howard then spoke of his personal highlights while training the Kilmoyley team with Anthony Daly over the last number of years. And then he gave the news that everybody was hoping to hear, that he and Anthony Daly would once again take over the management of the Kilmoyley Senior Hurling panel, this was met with a huge cheer from the crowd. Fr Maurice gave a grace after meals, which left the crowd in great spirits for the dancing, which was to follow.

Great music was provided by the Neily O Connor band and a lively disco with Big Jim. Overall it was a very memorable occasion and a great night was enjoyed by all. Kilmoyley Hurling club wish to thank all the people who sponsored spot prizes on the night, the staff and management of Ballyroe Heights hotel for providing a great venue and excellent food and service. The Glenside Travel bus company for bringing the guests too and from the event, and everybody who attended on the night and supported the club throughout the year.

Charity football game
 27th Dec '09
The annual married vs singles charity football game in memory of Claire Carmody Brick was once again held at Pairc Naomh Eirc Kilmoyley in beautiful sunshine on St. Stephens day. This was the sixth year of the event and it has proved to be as popular as ever with 33 players participating and an enthusiastic crowd of onlookers also. Despite the early morning showers, it managed to stay dry for the duration of the game which added to the festive atmosphere. Not for the first time this year the referee proved to be controversial but John Nolan did a great job throughout, even if he was wearing a "married" jersey underneath. Scores were difficult to come by early on, but once players found their second wind the game really opened up. Both keepers were busy collecting the ball from the side of the goals and Joe O'Sullivan was rewarded later with the Man of the match award thanks to some fine saves while being covered in mud. We are still looking for a Gooch in Kilmoyley - the game unfortunately didn't uncover any new talent but the search will continue next year. A mention must go to John Brendan Griffin and Fintan Ryan who were commanding throughout, showing the young fellas how it should be done.
All funds collected this year are being donated to the Oncology dept. of Tralee general hospital which does fantastic work in often demanding and challenging circumstances. The draw held at McEligotts bar Ardfert that evening was won by JJ McElligott, Lerrig who very generously returned his winnings for the charity. A consolation prize of a bottle of champagne was won by Padraig O'Sullivan. Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to a very enjoyable day all round. In total 917 euro was collected, a portion of which was donated to the Claire Carmody Brick cancer research foundation.

Kilmoyley hurlers on 2009 Christy Ring team
 16th Dec '09
Congratulations to Kilmoyley's Shane Brick and Tom Murnane who were voted on the Christy Ring 2009 team of the year. This is a great honour for the club and a great endorsement of the hard work that is being done at the club. Kerry were unlucky to be beaten by eventual winners Carlow after a replay in the semi final of the competition. See Details here, but with John Meyler in charge in 2009 hopes are high that Kerry can go at least one step further.

Pat O'Hara, Baltovin R.I.P. 24th Nov '09 : The death took place during the week of Patrick (Pattie) O Hara, Baltovin. Pat was a former selector for the senior team and played in goals for a spell also. He was a regular at Kilmoyley sportsfield for senior training, enjoying the banter and discussions with the other regulars. May he rest in Peace.

Douglas lose in Munster final 23rd Nov '09 South Liberties of Limerick defeated favourites Douglas of Cork in the final of the Munster Intermediate club championship on Sunday by 2-10 to 1-12. Despite leading by four points at half time after playing against the breeze, Douglas collapsed in the second period and two goals by the Limerick men drove them to victory.

Party for juveniles 21st Nov '09The Juvenile Chairperson, Catherine O Sullivan and her Committee organised a lively end of year party night for the under age players on Friday night at the Community Centre. There was plenty of entertainment provided and refreshments. Thanks to everyone who helped out and to Tom Godley, John Nolan, TJ Maunsell, Mika Flaherty and especially Mike Curran for entertaining the children on the night. Thanks also to everyone who supplied the refreshments.

Defeat for Kilmoyley in Munster Championship 1st Nov '09 The hurling gods did not shine kindly on Kilmoyley in their Munster Intermediate Championship quarter final clash against Douglas on Sunday. The sides finished level 1-8 to 0-11 at the end of normal time, but Douglas's superior strength and fitness earned them a comfortable win on a scoreline of 1-23 to 1-12. Kilmoyley will be bitterly disappointed with this result, especially when it looked as if they had secured victory at the end of normal time with a point from Sean Maunsell. But Douglas were awarded a free three minutes into injury time to guarantee them a draw. Kilmoyley supporters travelled in their droves to the game and gave a huge lift to the team throughout the game with their enthusiasm and encouragement from the stands. But Kilmoyley must wait until at least next year to show that they are better than this. MATCH REPORT

Seniors ready for battle 30th Oct '09 It has been a long five week wait for our seniors but the time has almost arrived for the Munster Intermediate club quarter final clash with Douglas of Cork. Kilmoyley have a couple of injury worries with Eoin Sheehy and Shane Brick hoping to be match fit come Sunday. Preparations have gone well over the past few weeks and now we must hope that the team plays to its potential on Sunday against a physical Douglas side that will be back playing in the senior ranks in 2010 following their win in the Premier Intermediate championship. They have continued their good form with a win over Kilworth last Tuesday in the Division 2 final. But Kilmoyley will relish this challenge, and will be confident that they can upset the odds. With so many locals travelling (despite the terrible forecast), the team will not be short of support at Pairc Ui Rinn come 2pm throw in. And of course Tom Howard and Anthony Daly have done a super job til now, but will not want to finish just yet.

Cumann na mBunscoil final 16th Oct '09 There was hard luck for the senior boys of Scoil Naomh Eirc, Kilmoyley who were beaten by Bouleenshere National school, Ballyheigue in the North Kerry 4/5 teacher schools football competition. The sides were deadlocked at the end of normal time, but the stronger boys from Ballyheigue pulled through in the end on a scoreline of 7-18 to 7-13.

Munster Intermediate club competition 14th Oct '09 Kilmoyley's seniors will meet Douglas of Cork in the quarter final of the Munster Intermediate club championship. Douglas defeated Ballymartyl in the Cork final by 0-20 to 0-16. This will prove to be a very difficult task for Kilmoyley as Douglas were a seasoned senior team until a few years ago. With the game being played in Pairc Ui Ring on November 1st, Kilmoyley will certainly be underdogs as their opponents will be one of the favourites to win Munster and All Ireland titles. But Kilmoyley will hve prepared well since their county final win over St. Brendans, and will be hoping to give a worthy accounty of themselves.

Win for Under 21s 12th Oct '09 Kilmoyley Under 21s enjoyed a comprehensive win in their quarter final tie with Abbeydorney at Kilmoyley on Saturday. Although they struggled in the first half, Kilmoyley played some excellent hurling in the second period. Within a minute of the re-start John B O'Halloran at full forward doubled a high ball brilliantly to the net. He later set up Conor Fitzell for a goal, while Timothy O'Brien added a third goal for the winners. Kilmoyley await the draw to see whom they will meet in the semi, but they will need an improved performance to progress.

Under 21 Championship set to begin 5th Oct '09 The Kilmoyley Under 21s attempt to create further history for the club as they look to win the county championship, commencing with a home tie next Saturday against Abbeydorney. With Anthony Daly in charge, the players will be anxious to put in good performances in an attempt to bring the third county title back to the club this year. Following Kerry's All Ireland "B" success last month, county players such as David Fitzell, James Godley, Adrian Royle, Niall Young and Edward Fitzgerald will be hoping for big performances.

Seniors and Minors win historic double 29th Sept '09 Congratulations to everyone involved in the Senior and Minor teams who created history on Sunday by becoming the first Kilmoyley teams in 45 years to win the double. The seniors also moved to the top of the all time leader board of championship wins with 22 titles in total. They now play the winners of the Cork intermediate championship in five weeks time. Captain Micheal Regan was a worthy recipient of the Man of the Match Award, putting in a superb performance for Kilmoyley at centre forward. View 2009 County Final Photos Here

Kilmoyley all set for finals 25th Sept '09 Despite having parts of the parish painted (with bad writing) during the week, Kilmoyley is all ready for both minor and senior finals next Sunday at Austin Stack park for what promises to be a great day. What other club in Ireland can boast having the calibre of such coaches and managers as Anthony Daly and John Meyler on their sideline. Events get under way at 1.30pm when the minors take on Ballyduff as they seek to win our 13th minor title. But this will be a difficult task for our young team who have already had two good wins in the competition, first against Kenmare and last week against Lixnaw in the semi-final. Although this was a relatively comfortable semi final win, kilmoyley will need to improve significantly if they are to bring home the Sean Lovett cup for the first time since 2007.

The seniors too have a difficult task as they face neighbours St Brendans in a county final for the first time since 1963. Kilmoyley are being made favourites by the bookmakers but there will be very little between two sides who have very contrasting styles. Kilmoyley's experience will certainly be a major benefit against a team playing its first final, but most of those players also have experience of playing in a junior and intermediate all-ireland final. But with a bit of luck, it would be great to have both Neilus Flynn and the Sean Lovett cups in Kilmoyley on Sunday night. Best of luck to both teams!!

Minors qualify for third final in a row 18th Sept '09 Our minor team defeated Lixnaw 3-10 to 2-9 in the semi-final of the county championship at Abbeydorney on Friday evening. Played before a large crowd, Kilmoyley dominated the first half with Daniel Collins netting two goals. However a fortuitous goal by Lixnaw just before the break brought them back into the game as Kilmoyley led by six points. Kilmoyley did just enough in the second half to stay ahead without ever hitting top gear, but Maurice Fitzgerald and John Meyler will be pleased to have reached the final where they will meet Ballyduff who defeated Causeway in Saturday's semi-final. This is a great feat for the minors who, along with the seniors will play in their third final in a row next week. Here's hoping that both teams can now win one more game each and go one step better than the previous two years with the seniors losing in 2007 and the minors in 2008.

Intermediates lose semi-final 15th Sept '09 Kilmoyley's Intermediates lost to Kenmare by 0-12 to 0-7 in the semi-final of the County Intermediate championship at Connolly park, Tralee after a disappointing performance. The loss of Joe Murnane through injury was a blow to Kilmoyley before the start of the game, but Kilmoyley still had enough chances to win the game. Unfortunately, the usually reliable free taking of Brendan Harris let him down, while Kilmoyley couldn't score enough from play.

Kerry win U21 "B" title 12th Sept '09 The Kerry U21 hurlers completed a great year for underage hurling for the county at inter county level when they defeated Roscommon in the "B" All Ireland final at Ennis on Saturday. Kilmoyley had John B O'Halloran, James Godley, David Fitzell, Niall Young, Adrian Royle, Edward Fitzgerald, Jason Fealy and Andy McCarthy on the panel. Well done to the lads and to former Kilmoyley boss John Meyler who was in charge.

Seniors reach County final 4th Sept'09 Kilmoyley advanced to their third senior county final in a row and their seventh this decade following this easy 4-16 to 3-3 victory over Crotta O'Neills at Austin Stack park. The expected challenge from the young Crotta side never materialised as the reigning county champions dominated from the start. The game was effectively over after the first quarter with Kilmoyley leading 2-6 to 0-2 and dominated in every section of the field. By half time, Kilmoyley led by 3-9 to 0-2. Crotta improved their performance considerably in the second half scoring three goals, but it was obvious that Kilmoyley were not putting in the same effort as the first half. Kilmoyley await the result of the second semi final between St. Brendans and Abbeydorney to see who they meet in the final on September 24th. MATCH REPORT

U15s lose in semi-final 31st Aug'09 An understrength Kilmoyley U15 side gave a very good account of themselves in this County semi final against Lixnaw in terrible conditions at Ballyheigue. A torrential shower of rain fell just before throw in and left pools of water on the field, but credit to both sides who served up a very entertaining game. The final scoreline of 7-4 to 2-4 does little justice to the team's brave efforts, but there was no doubting the better side won. Daniel Collins, operating at full forward opened the scoring with a point from play, but Lixnaw quickly equalised. Three of our team were U12s while another four were U13, so it was going to be difficult for the team to sustain the effort for the hour. Despite a great effort by the defence Lixnaw scored their opening goal after ten minutes, and added a point short after. But Kilmoyley replied with a goal of their own through Daniel Collins who scored all but one of his sides points. Kilmoyley keeper Emmet Meehan made some great saves while brother Niall played very well at corner back.At the break Kilmoyley trailed by one two points.
Kilmoyley started the second half in dynamic fashion and dominated the early exchanges. Dougie Fitzell and Florence McCarthy were outstanding throughout for Kilmoyley but their efforts began to take their toll. Lixnaw's first goal of the half was fortunate as the ball had actually gone wide, and another soft goal seemed to knock the wind out of Kilmoyley's challenge. In the end Lixnaw ran out comfortable winners but the Kilmoyley boys can be very pleased with their effort.Team :-Emmet Meehan, Shane Monahan, John Godley, Niall Meehan, Paudie O'Connor, Florence McCarthy, Robert Collins, Dougie Fitzell, Peter Crowe, Jordan Brick, Eoin McCarthy, Robert McElligott (0-1), Sean Curran, Daniel Collins (2-3), Paudie Godley, Darren Godley, Liam Claffey.

Good win for U11s 28th Aug'09 Kilmoyley's U11s made amends for an earlier round defeat when they defeated Ballyduff 3-2 to 2-2 in this very entertaining play off game in Kilmoyley on a windy evening. Both sides found it difficult to score as a strong breeze blew across the field. How groundsman Michael Regan was able to cut the grass was nothing short of a miracle considering the recent terrible spell of rain we had, but the pitch was in excellent condition.
Kilmoyley started brightly with Maurice O'Connor and Phil Maunsell dominating at midfield but they could not find the posts despite the best efforts of Philip Flaherty. Kilmoyley's defence started to come under pressure but with Eamon Dowling outstanding at centre back, all attacks were snuffed out. Then from a long delivery, Ronan Godley latched onto the breaking ball and slipped the ball under the advancing keeper to give Kilmoyley the lead. Ballyduff replied with two points but Phil Maunsell strengthened Kilmoyley's lead with a lovely shot into the corner of the net. However Kilmoyley conceded 1-1 before the break to leave them with a two point half time lead after Maurice O'Connor pointed.
The second half produced more exciting huring as both sides gave it everything. Maurice O'Connor scored his second point within a few minutes as the Ballyduff keeper tipped a great shot over the bar. Despite a great effort at full back by Sean Regan, he was helpless to stop a second Ballyduff goal that brought the game level as the game moved into the final five minutes. Another long delivery into the Ballyduff defence caused panic and it looked certain that Philip Flaherty was to score, but his shot came off the crossbar. Onto the rebound like a flash was young Ronan Godley and he kicked home his second goal to give Kilmoyley the lead which they held on to until the final whistle.
This was an encouraging display by this young side and credit must go to the girls in particular who lined out for Kilmoyley this evening as they made a big difference to their performance. Next up is Crotta/Duagh in the semi-final.. See Match photos

Great wins for Kerry minors and U21s 22nd Aug'09 Saturday will be remembered as the day when the Kerry minors created history by capturing the All Ireland "B" title with a 0-21 to 1-13 victory over Westmeath at Cloughjordan. In the curtain raiser, Kerry's U21 side under the managerial eye of former Kilmoyley, Kerry and Wexford supremo John Meyler had a narrow 2-10 to 0-15 win over favourites Kildare and advance to meet Roscommon in the final.
One would think that after winning an All Ireland title that this team would now be taking it easy and looking back on a fantastic achievement. But it is a sign of how seriously this bunch of young fellas and their management team are taking their hurling, as they have four games remaining in their Cork premier league campaign. It is an opportunity for these players to play top class opposition and continue to improve on their game, which will be hugely benefitial for their hurling in the coming years. The Kilmoyley club was proudly represented by players Tommy Maunsell, Luke Fitzell, Sean Dowling, and Edmund Griffin and by selector Joe Walsh, Kilmoyley and team trainer Joe Walsh, Lerrig Kerry's hurling officer.
Despite having only one serious training session in the run up to this semi-final clash, the Kerry U21s pulled off an upset to defeat a fancied Kildare side. Two first half Dara O'Connell goals helped Kerry to a two point half time lead. Kilmoyley had five players on the starting team while Niall Young was also introduced as a substitute. There is no doubt that there is plenty of talent in this Kerry team and under the guidance of John Meyler they certainly have a great chance of winning the "B" title. Well done to all concerned.

Kilmoyley edge out Ballyduff in tough QF 16th Aug'09 Kilmoyley advance to meet Crotta O'Neills in the County championship semi final thanks to a great win over Ballyduff in the quarterfinal at Austin Stack park on Sunday evening on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-10. Kilmoyley struggled in the initial period and were in arrears at the break by 1-6 to 0-5 after playing into a slight breeze. There was little between the teams throughout the game but once Kilmoyley edged in front in the final quarter, they upped their performance and although Ballyduff had the final score of the game, Kilmoyley dominated in the final period with some excellent performances from Shane Brick, Eoin Sheehy, James McCarthy and Billy Brick. Diarmuid Kirwan, who is to referee the All-Ireland final between Kilkenny and Tipperary reffed the game. .MATCH REPORT
A young Crotta had a surprise win over Ballyheigue in their quarter final on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-17.

Jessica shines at Croke Park 16th Aug'09 Well done to Kilmoyley's Jessica Fitzell who represented the club and county at Croke Park on Sunday in the Cumann na mBunscoil game held at half time between Tipperary and Limerick. Jessica is one of the most talented underage players in the club and is following in her brothers' footsteps. Well done!!

Kerry minor hurlers reach "B" final 15th Aug'09 For many years Kerry's underage hurling sides have struggled for success but since Causeway's All-Ireland U16 win a few months back the momentum has gathered. This latest result will give this minor side a huge level of belief going into next week's final against Westmeath. A lot of work has gone into the preparation of this team, including their participation in the Cork minor league which has improved their standard of hurling to a higher level.
In the semi-final at Toomevara last Saturday Kerry faced Meath who have always been more than a match for Kerry at every underage level. But the final score of 4-23 to 0-10 in Kerry's favour suggests that there is a bright future for this team.

Seniors gear up for Championship 7th Aug'09 Preparations for the senior county championship are well under way, as Kilmoyley prepare to meet Ballyduff on Saturday 15th August at Austin Stack park. Training has been progressing well under Tom Howard and Anthony Daly, with no major injury worries to report so Kilmoyley followers will be hoping for a quality performance from their team to give them a chance of progressing to the semi finals.

Win for U15s in Championship 6th Aug'09 Our U15s defeated Causeway in the quarter final of the county U15 championship on Thursday on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-5. Kilmoyley's main scorer was Daniel Collins, but he was ably assisted by Florence McCarthy, Dougie Fitzell and Peter Crowe.

Intermediates advance 2nd Aug'09 The Intermediates are through to the semi final of the county championship but struggled to see off the challenge of Dr. Crokes at Lewis road, Killarney. In a low scoring first half Kilmoyley found it difficult to get going and were lucky to lead by one point having scored only four points. Kilmoyley's hurling improved in the second half and although the home side scored a goal, Kimoyley held on to win by 0-13 to 1-7.

Minors win QF tie 31st July'09 Our minors came through a tough test in the quarter final of the championship when they defeated Kenmare/ Kilgarvan on Friday evening. Following a good first half display, Kilmoyley faded in the second half and were fortunate to hold on by two points. (More soon)

U14s lose in NK C'ship 28th July'09Kilmoyley's poor form continued with this heavy defeat to Ballyduff in Kilmoyley on Tuesday evening in the North Kerry U14 Championship. Kilmoyley started brightly playing some excellent hurling, but a collapse ten minutes from the break allowed Ballyduff in for four late goals. Kilmoyley's task was more difficult in the second half as they faced a strong breeze and when they conceded an early goal and point it all seemed over. Kilmoyley missed a number of goal chances and never threatened the Ballyduff lead. Kilmoyley's final game is away next week to Duagh/ Crotta. Kilmoyley Team - Paudie O'Connor, Fiachra King, Paudie Godley, Emmett Meehan, Niall Meehan, Maurice O Connor, Jordan Brick, Robert McElligott, Kieran McCarthy, Eoin McCarthy, Robert Collins, Sean Curran, Jack Sheehy, subs Darren Godley, Mark Griffin, Michael Leen, Richard Flaherty.

Limerick and Waterford progress 26th July'09 Anthony Daly's first year in charge of the Dublin hurlers came to a halt today as they were beaten by Limerick at Semple stadium in the All-Ireland quarterfinal. Dublin will be disappointed that they did not play to their best on the day, but overall they must be pleased with their progress under the Clare man.
In the second quarter final Galway threw away a four point lead with two minutes remaining as Waterford finished with a late surge to earn a semi final spot against All-Ireland champions Kilkenny.

County championship draw made 26th July'09 Kilmoyley have been drawn to meet old rivals Ballyduff in the quarter final of this year's AIB Senior county championship. Kilmoyley were not seeded for the draw due to their placing after five rounds of the county league, and were grouped with Abbeydorney, Crotta and Causeway. The other quarter final pairings are St. Brendans v Causeway, Lixnaw v Abbeydorney and Ballyheigue v Crotta. Dates for the quarterfinals have not yet been finalised.

U14s disappoint in NK C'ship 21st July'09Kilmoyley travelled to Abbeydorney in the North Kerry U14 Championship and went down to a stronger home outfit on the scoreline of Abbeydorney 5-06 Kilmoyley 2-06. Kilmoyley were without the services of Paudie O Connor and Shane Monaghan through injury, but regardless the team has still to play to the best of their ability. Team - Kieran McCarthy, Sean Curran, Paudie Godley, Emmett Meehan, Niall Meehan, Maurice O Connor, Jordan Brick, Robert McElligott, Mark Griffin, Eoin McCarthy, Robert Collins, Fiachra King, Jack Sheehy, subs Darren Godley, Eamon Dowling, Liam Claffey, Sean Regan

Seniors lose first game of the year 20th July'09 Kilmoyley's Seniors put in a disappointing display against Lixnaw at home in the fourth round of the county league going down on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-9. The draw for the county championship takes place on Tuesday night based on the current county league placings.

Seniors pull NK league title out of the fire 8th July'09 Kilmoyley finished with a flourish of 1-5 in the final six minutes of extra time to see off the Abbeydorney challenge and take the Sonny Harris cup on a final scoreline of 1-19 to 1-17 at Kilmoyley. Abbeydorney seemed to have sealed the win when a goal three minutes into the second period of extra time gave them a six point lead, following a poor defensive Kilmoyley free. But the home side responded immediately with an Andy McCarthy goal following great work by Billy Brick. They then added further frees by Man of the Match Sean Maunsell and three points by substitute Brendan Harris as the Abbeydorney challenge faded to seal the win.
Kilmoyley only played well in patches throughout the game, and conceded numerous frees to give their opponents a grip on the game - without playing great hurling themselves. Sean Maunsell was excellent up front for Kilmoyley and was a worthy winner of the Man of the match with ten points in the game.

Christy Walsh featured on Sunday Game 5th July'09 Former Kilmoyley and Kerry great Christy Walsh featured on The Sunday Game's special program celebrating 125 years of Munster hurling finals. Christy was briefly interviewed along with other Munster hurling legends such as John Fenton, Gary Kirby, Len Gaynor and Fergal Hartley by host Des Cahill. Nicholas English was voted by viwers as the best Munster hurler in the past 25 years.

Seniors game abandoned 5th July'09 Kilmoyley's county league tie against Causeway was abandoned ten minutes into the second half today folllowing an accidental injury to one of the Causeway players. As an ambulance was required and the player, David Leahy could not be moved, match referee deemed the game to be abandoned.
At the time Kilmoyley were losing 1-7 top 0-7 but had just scored three points without reply and having the benefit of the wind for the second half. Speedy recovery to David Leahy.

Under 16s lose to Causeway 2nd July'09 An understrength Kilmoyley side went down by four points to Causeway at home on Thursday evening despite a brave second half performance. With no subs available, injuries to a number of the Kilmoyley players probably cost them the game but they can take great heart from the manner in which they finished this game.

Seniors reach second NK final of the year 1st July'09 A hurling game between Kilmoyley and Ballyduff generally results in many talking points, and this semi-final clash was certainly no different. A number of red cards could have been issued, and it was a wonder that there were no serious injuries. Apart from that, Kilmoyley will be pleased to come away with a 1-12 to 0-10 win having played well below their best throughout the game. But for some fine finishing from Shaun Young, the workrate of his brother Niall and a couple of good saves from keeper JB O'Halloran the result could have gone the other way. Kilmoyley will meet St. Brendans in the final on July 15th. (Match Report later)

Fitzell wins long puck competition 29th June'09 Congratulations to Kilmoyley's Dougie Fitzell who won the U16 Puc Fada competition at Caherslee on Monday with a brilliant effort of 122 yards which was only six yards shorter than the puck of the senior winner Michael Conway. Both winners now go to the Munster final in Tipperary in a couple of weeks.

Intermediates win first title of the year 28th June'09 Kilmoyley's Intermediates were crowned Credit Union division 2 County league winners on Saturday evening when they defeated Dr. Crokes by 3-11 to 1-10 at Austin Stacks park with an impressive display from the start. Sean Maunsell got the winners off to a great start with an early goal while Brendan Harris followed with a long range pointed free. Crokes replied with their only score of the half but Kilmoyley were well on top throughout the field. Andy McCarthy and Sean Flaherty added two points for Kilmoyley while Adrian Royle added a third soon after. McCarthy stretched Kilmoyley's lead with a second goal while Harris and Maunsell added further points to give Kilmoyley a comfortable half time lead of 2-7 to 0-1.
Dr. Crokes started strongly after the break but found it difficult to breakdown Kilmoyley's rearguard with Sean Griffin and David Fitzell in great form. A defensive clearance was worked to Sean Flaherty who scored Kilmoyley's third goal to put the game result beyond doubt. Royle adde two more points while sub Michael Griffin and Harris added another each. Captain Joe Murnane was presented with the cup. Well done to the management team of Gerald O'Carroll, Michael Flaherty, Maurice Fitzgerald and TJ Maunsell on this well earned win. Kilmoyley team and players:- Aidan McCabe, Joseph O'Sullivan, Sean Griffin, Gavin O'Connor, David Fitzell, Joe Murnane, Pat Deenihan, Brendan Harris, Paul McCarthy, Niall Young, Jason Fealy, Adrian Royle, Andy McCarthy, Sean Maunsell, Sean Flaherty, Joe McElligott, Gerald O'Carroll, Michael Griffin, Michael Fitzgerald, TJ Maunsell, Conor Stokes, Edward Fitzgerald, Declan O'Carroll, Joe Brennan, Maurice Fitzgerald.

U13s outhurled by Causeway in NK league 16th June'09 Kilmoyley travelled to Causeway on Tuesday evening to take on the locals, but came away empty handed. Despite giving their best to the end, Kilmoyley were outplayed in most sectors and only for some brilliant goalkeeping by Emmet Meehan, the deficit could have been much greater. The first half was a very low scoring affair, and although Kilmoyley only managed one pointed free they were still only four points adrift at the break. Unfortunately, the one way traffic continued towards the Kilmoyley goals in the second half, but the defence continued to battle with Eoin McCarthy and Paudie Godley outstanding. The lack of a physical presence up front for Kilmoyley cost them a number of scores, and two points in the second half was scant reward for their efforts. In the end, Causeway deserved their win, but there wil be better days ahead for this Kilmoyley team. Kilmoyley players Emmet Meehan, Fiachra King, Eoin McCarthy, Liam Claffey, Maurice O'Connor, Shane Monahan, Sean Curran, Paudie Godley, Jordan Brick, Robert Collins, Robert McElligott, Darren Godley, Eamon Dowling, Kieran McCarthy, David McCarthy, Robert Harrington, Sean Regan, Richard Flaherty, Ronan Godley, Philip Flaherty

Kilmoyley seniors win in county league 15th June'09 Kilmoyley's first game in the county league was away to Crotta on Monday evening. As has been the case in this fixture over the past few seasons, this game severly lacked quality, and in the end Kilmoyley were thankful to come away with its first two points of the campaign. Played in wonderful sunshine, Kilmoyley started brightly and scored 1-1 inside the first couple of minutes, Edward Fitzgerald scoring the goal. With Tom Murnane dominating at midfield and James McCarthy solid at number 6, Kilmoyley's defence was rarely troubled early on. Brendan Harris was deadly accurate with frees to give Kilmoyley a comfortable lead at the break. Crotta only managed three points in the opening period.
The second half saw more competitive hurling but with little quality as both sides struggled to play any type of free flowing hurling. Crotta battled back and were rewarded with two goals in quick succession, but sub Maurice Murnane quickly replied with a low angled shot to the net. A third Crotta goal left four points between the teams at the end.

Kilmoyley hurler gets married 13th June'09 Congratulations to Kilmoyley hurler Padraig O'Sullivan and Ballylongford native Elizabeth Fennel who married on Saturday. Padraig is the winner of five county championship medals and a Munster senior league title. Congratulations to both and best wishes from Kilmoyley hurling club.

Kerry hurlers lose to impressive Carlow 13th June'09 This was the classic game of two halves as the Kerry hurlers relinquished a three point half time lead to last year's winners Carlow, and concede five second half goals to bow out of the competition. Despite this disappointing end to their season, the hurlers will be pleased that some progress was made this year, and there is certainly a good platform to build on next year. James McCarthy scored Kerry's opening goal to give them a great start and Kerry found themselves 1-8 to 0-5 ahead as half time approached. But a 20 metre free by Carlow rattled the net to leave only three points in it.
The Barrowsiders moved into a higher gear from the restart and put the homeside on the back foot for the next twenty, when Kerry scored their first point. Centre back John Rodgers gave a man of the match display as he stopped numerous Kerry attacks. A late Kerry goal could not hide the gulf in class between the teams, as the final score ended Kerry 2-11 Carlow 6-10.

Kerry hurlers still in Christy Ring 6th June'09 The Kerry hurlers are still in the Christy Ring Cup after a dramatic extra-time draw at Dr. Cullen park. A late Shane Brick goal in normal time levelled matters, and thankfully Carlow missed a '65 with the last puck of normal time to send the game into extra time. Both sides scored only two points each in extra time however as the winter-like weather conditions took its toll. Great performances from Kilmoyley's Colin Harris and James McCarthy helped Kerry earn this impressive draw.
Despite not winning, this is a great result for Kerry hurling, and should give the team great hope and confidence going into next week's replay.

Defeat for U12s 5th June'09 Kilmoyley lost out to St. Brendans by the narrowest of margins of 1-4 to 1-3 in the Division 2 semi-final on Friday. Despite a great defensive display, Kilmoyley could not create enough scoring opportunities to give them the win. St. Brendans now meet Dr. Crokes in the final.

U13s win in NK league 2nd June '09 Kilmoyley's Under 13s won their first game of Division 1 of the North Kerry U13 league at Kilmoyley on Tuesday evening despite a shakey start against a spirited Abbeydorney side. The visitors started better in the sweltering sunshine thanks to a goal from Michael O'Leary, who went on to score all his sides' scores of 4-4. Kilmoyley replied with a goal by Jordan Brick, who finished with 3-3 himself. A Darren Godley point put Kilmoyley into the lead but O'Leary was very impressive in the first half and scored 3-4 in total to give his side a five point advantage at the break.
Kilmoyley upped their effort in the second half and were lead by the impressive Robert Collins and Paudie Godley. Emmet Meehan and David McCarthy made notable contributions up front for the winners and helped steer their side to a two point lead as the game reached the third quarter. But O'Leary had other ideas as he stormed through the Kilmoyley defence to raise the net and give his side the lead once again. But closing scores from Jordan Brick (1-2) and Meehan (1-0) secured the win for Kilmoyley on a scoreline of Kilmoyley 5-5 Abbeydorney 4-4. Kilmoyley team Emmet Meehan, Liam Claffey, Paudie Godley, Fiachra King, Maurice O'Connor, Shane Monahan, Robert Collins, Robert McElligott, Jordan Brick (captain), Eamon Dowling, Eoin McCarthy, Darren Godley, Sean Curran, Michael Leen, David McCarthy, Philip Flaherty, Tomas Curran, Ronan Godley.

U14 County league finals 31st May'09 In division 2 of the County league Dingle overcame favourites Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the final by 1-4 to 0-9. In the Division 1 final, St. Brendans continued their unbeaten run with a 4-5 to 0-8. Both finals were played at Austin Stack's park Tralee.

Kerry hurlers reach Christy Ring semi 24th May'09 Thanks to the contribution of eight Kilmoyley hurlers and fifteen points from Shane Brick, the Kerry hurlers advanced to the semi finals of the Christy Ring Cup for the first time with this 4-21 to 2-12 win over Derry at Mullingar. Boss Mossy O'Carroll will be delighted that his side finished strongly, and although they will be facing competition holders Carlow in the semi-final, Kerry will be hoping for a similar performance. Well done to all.

U14s disappoint in Div 2 semi 24th May'09 Kilmoyley's Under 14s made an unsuccessful trip to Killarney on Sunday as they last 4-14 to 0-3 to Dr.Crokes in the County league division 2 semi-final. Kilmoyley held their own in the early stages, but the home side showed greater hunger and enthusiasm and soon took a stranglehold on proceedings. A number of injuries to Kilmoyley players did not help, but Crokes were better by far throughout the field and deserved the win. There will be better days ahead for this Kilmoyley team, but they have to show that when things don't go their way, they are willing to put in an extra effort.

U14s no match for Kenmare/Kilgarvan 19th May'09 Despite a very committed performance Kilmoyley's U14 team was completely outclassed by Kenmare/ Kilgarvan in their final league game on Sunday evening. As is the way with travelling teams, Kilmoyley were slow out of the blocks and the Kilmoyley goals were under severe pressure from the first whistle. But our fullback line was tremendous throughout, as was keeper Emmett Meehan who brought off some fantastice saves. This is an impressive Kenmare/ Kilgarvan side with many talented players in the team who were capable of picking off points from distance while under pressure. Kilmoyley opened its account after ten minutes with a pointed free by Niall Meehan, by which time we were three points in arrears. The physical presence of the home side's full forward line eventually told when they scored the first of their goals on the quarter hour. But in fairness to Kilmoyley, the players stuck to their task and were rewarded with a well worked goal finished by Jordan Brick and we were unlucky on two further occassions not to add to our tally. By half time, Kilmoyley were behind 3-7 to 1-3, Kilmoyley's other two points coming from Niall Meehan and Jordan Brick.
The home side started the second half where they left off with a fine point, but Kilmoyley replied almost immediately with a wonderful long range effort by young Brick. Despite the best efforts of young Robert Collins and Maurice O'Connor, Kilmoyley could not stem the flow of Kenmare's attacks for whom Aidan Quinlan was outstanding. Kilmoyley goalkeeper Emmett Meehan was the busiest player on the pitch and there was only so much he could do. Kilmoyley did add another goal through Jordan Brick who had a fine game, and there was certainly no shame on the part of any of the Kilmoyley players who despite this heavy defeat had already qualified for the semi finals of the competition.

Intermediates win on the road 13th May'09 Our Intermediate's made a long but worthwhile trip to Kenmare on Wednesday to take on the home side in the county league. Kilmoyley were under pressure in the early stages and found it difficult to gain momentum against a determined Kenmare side. Kilmoyley's first score settled the side and they went on to play a hard and fast brand of hurling. The loss of centreback Joe Murnane to injury in the second period meant that Kilmoyley had a hill to climb. But climb it they did, and they finished with three points to spare 1-12 to 1-9.

Brave effort by U16s not enough 12th May'09 Kilmoyley's U16s can be pleased with their great effort against Ballyheigue in the county league final at Causeway. They were beaten by the better team on the day and Ballyheigue deserved their win. But, if Kilmoyley had a bit more luck and if the ball had broken more kindly at times, the result could have been different. Ballyheigue had an ideal start and scored an early goal before Kilmoyley found some momentum to bring them back into the game. Then, just before the break Ballyheigue added a second goal to give them a four point half time lead.
All seemed lost for Kilmoyley at the start of the second half when they conceded a third goal. But a great Daniel Collins goal a minute later raised their hopes again. Kilmoyley stuck to their task and with Dougie Fitzell outstanding at centre back, all scoring threats from Ballyheigue were quashed. Meanwhile Kilmoyley's forwards were opening Ballyheigue's defence, but could get past a resolute keeper on a number of occassions. Four points brought Kilmoyley within sight of the win, but the full exertion of their effort began to tell as Ballyheigue finished with late points to seal the win.
Well done to both sides for a very entertaining and high quality game of hurling, and it showed why a number of players on show won All Ireland vocational schools medals earlier in the year.

Tipp star shines for Kerry hurlers 11th May'09 With the help of former Tipperary hurler Evan Sweeny and seven Kilmoyley players, the Kerry hurlers won their first competitive game of the year under Mossy Carroll and in the process qualified for the next round of the Christy Ring cup following their 3-11 to 1-16 win over Mayo at Austin Stack park today. James McCarthy and Shaun Young scored two of Kerry's goals while Shane Brick added five of his sides points. Billy Brick switched to defence in the second half and made numerous clearances to help give his side a win point win. Well done to all involved.

U14s record third league win 8th May'09 Kilmoyley's under 14s continued their recent good form with a 5-8 to 1-2 win over a spirited Abbeydorney side. Despite the strong wind, these sides served up a very skillfull and high quality game with some wonderful scores. Kilmoyley started brightly with two quick points from Niall Meehan and Shane Monahan. But Abbeydorney then settled to bring out the best from Kilmoyley 'keeper Emmet Meehan. At the other end of the field Niall Meehan was trying hard and was rewarded for his effort with a well taken goal after ten minutes. The Kilmoyley defence was very solid throughout and all six battled and tackled with great effect. Our midfield pairing of Robert Collins and Paudie Godley worked tirelessly against tough opponents, while the forwards battled in the difficult conditions to earn their scores. Kilmoyley widened the gap shortly after with an opportunist goal kicked to the net by Jordan Brick and he added his second before the break while Paudie O'Connor added a long range free. Abbeydorney recorded one point in the first half.
Kilmoyley continued to dominate in the second half despite the brave efforts of Anthony Rigney, Colm McCarthy and David Egan. Two further points by Jordan Brick, and late goals by Mark Griffin and Paudie O'Connor sealed the win for Kilmoyley. But Abbeydorney finished with a late goal themselves to leave the final score Kilmoyley 5-8 to 1-2. Well done to all players for a great effort. kilmoyley team :- Emmet Meehan, Fiachra King, Eoin McCarthy, Sean Curran, Darren Godley, Paudie O'Connor (1-1), Maurice O'Connor, Robert Collins, Paudie Godley, Robert McElligott (0-1), Shane Monahan(0-2), Jordan Brick (2-2), Liam Claffey, Niall Meehan(1-2), Jack Sheehy, Mark Griffin(1-0), Eamon Dowling.

GAA's 125 years celebration 7th May'09 The Seniors and Intermediates will play a challenge game at the sportsfield on Sunday at 12 mid day to celebrate the GAA's 125 year existence, while the underage hurlers from age 6 to twelve will be showing their hurling skills from 11 o'clock. Everybody is welcome to the field.

Hurler's play Mayo in Christy Ring 7th May'09 The Kerry senior hurlers take on Mayo in the first round of this year's Christy Ring cup in Tralee on Sunday with seven Kilmoyley hurlers on the starting team. Shane Brick makes a welcome return to the team at centre forward while James Godley (fullback), Tom Murnane capt. (centre back) and James McCarthy (full forward) fill the other central positions.
Despite a disappointing league campaign where Kerry lost all its games, there were promising signs of improvement and spirit towards the end of the campaign. It is hoped that the team can carry this momentum into the championship and put itself in a position of winning the title for the first time.

Under 16s reach final in style 7th May'09 Inspired by full back David Ryan, Kilmoyley's under 16s advanced to the final of the Lee Strand County league against Ballyheigue next Tuesday. Ryan was a rock throughout the game but shone in the second half especially when all was thrown at him. At the other end of the field Luke Fitzell was also in brilliant form scoring three goals as Kilmoyley enjoyed a 3-12 to 0-4 win in very blustery and cold conditions at Ballyheigue. Well done to all players and good luck.
Meanwhile the Intermediates' county league fixture against Causeway did not progress as Causeway failed ti field a team.

Under 16s into semifinal 5th May'09 Despite losing to Causeway by 2-8 to 1-10 in their last league game today, Kilmoyley's under 16s still advance to the league semi finals and now play Ballyduff this Thursday in Ballyheigue. Playing into the breeze in the first half, Kilmoyley played with great determination and only trailed by two points at the break, thanks to some great defending by the full back line. Two second half goals by the visitors left Kilmoyley trailing, and despite a late Daniel Collins goal and a flurry of points Kilmoyley were unable to edge in front. But they will not be too disappointed with the defeat and will be hoping to overturn the result if both teams advance to the final next Tuesday.

Under 14s win in County league 4th May '09 The Under 14s had a great win over Dr. Crokes at home on Monday evening on a scoreline of 4-9 to 5-2. Dr. Crokes, who were playing with Laune Rangers in the competition were physically strong in their middle line but the Kilmoyley players better striking and score taking was the difference between the sides. Kilmoyley faced a strong breeze in the first half but they opened the scoring through two Niall Meehan points. Crokes replied with a goal and two points as their big players dominated. Fullback Eoin McCarthy made numerous clearances and he got great help from his corner backs Fiachra King and Sean Curran. Jordan Brick made a great catch to win a free which Niall Meehan converted, and he added another minutes later to narrow the gap. Shane Monahan was playing well at wing forward while Paudie O'Connor was giving it everything at centre back. But Kilmoyley conceded a late goal to leave them four points adrift at the break.
An early Kilmoyley point, brilliantly setup by Robert McElligott reduced the deficit. A minute later a Paudie O'Connor free went to the net to level the game and moments later Niall Meehan scored his first goal to give Kilmoyley the lead. Dr. Crokes replied almost immediately to level the game once again as the game moved into the final quarter of a very entertaining game. The Kilmoyley forwards began to win frees which were converted to give their side a four point lead. Goals from Niall Meehan and Jordan Brick looked to have clinched the win for Kilmoyley but credit to Crokes who battled back with two points of their own to leave four points between the sides at the end.
Well done to all the players who gave it everything in their best display of the year. A feature of Kilmoyley's play was their excellent fielding and the brilliant play by their younger hurlers. Kilmoyley players :-Liam Claffey, Fiachra King, Eoin McCarthy, Sean Curran, Emmet Meehan, Paudie O'Connor, Maurice O'Connor, Paudie Godley, Jordan Brick, Robert Collins, Robert McElligott, Shane Monahan, Darren Godley, Niall Meehan, Jack Sheehy (capt), Eamon Dowling, Mark Griffin.

Minors and Under 16s advance 28th April'09 The minors have qualified to meet St. Brendans in the county league final, while the under 16s have also advanced to the semi-finals even though they still have one rounf of games to go.
Meanwhile the Seniors have advanced to the final of the 2008 Munster league where they will play Ballyduff Upper of Waterford.

Under 14s secure first County league win 26th April'09 Despite the terrible weather and wet underfoot conditions, these sides served up a very entertaining and competitive game. Although the final scoreline suggests a comfortable win for the home side, it was anything but, as they were made to work to the final whistle for this win as two late Kilmoyley goals decided this tie.
Kilmoyley started brightly as Niall Meehan continued his good form with two early goals and a point. But centre back Dillon O'Regan was outstanding at this stage as he foiled many of the home sides’ attacks, and setup their opening points of the half. A third Niall Meehan goal along with a Paudie O’Connor point gave Kilmoyley a further advantage. Centre forward Robert McElligott worked very hard for Kilmoyley while Robert Collins was as dependable as ever. Crotta/Duagh replied with another point to stay in touch as they faced the second half with the aid of the breeze.
Kilmoyley stretched their advantage with a well worked Eoin McCarthy point, but the visitors took control for the next ten minutes with a goal and two points to narrow the deficit. But Paudie Godley and Sean Curran were outstanding for Kilmoyley in the half back line at this stage and they helped to steady the side. Jordan Brick and Niall Meehan added two late goals for Kilmoyley to seal the win but from one to fifteen it was an excellent display to score their first points of the campaign. Final score Kilmoyley 5-7 Crotta/Duagh 1-5

Last Thursday the Kilmoyley Under 14s played Dingle in the first round of the county league division 2. Despite a brave second half fightback by the home side, Dingle were always in control of this re-arranged county league encounter. The visitors were two goals to the good inside five minutes as they completely dominated Kilmoyley in the wet conditions. Dingle added some excellent points to stretch their lead before Niall Meehan scored the first of his four goals to bring Kilmoyley into the game on the quarter hour. Despite the rain, Dingle continued to play some excellent hurling with Barry O'Sullivan brilliant throughout. Only some brave defending by Paudie Godley kept Kilmoyley in the game, as Meehan added two more goals before the break. But further scores by Dingle gave them a comfortable 5-5 to 3 goals halftime lead.
The second half was much more competitive and there was far more urgency about Kilmoyley's but Dingle stretched their lead with the opening point of the half. Kilmoyley dominated the game for the next quarter as they narrowed the deficit to two goals. But Dingle found their way in the closing period to add further scores and this entertaining encounter ended with a win for the boys from the West. Well done to both teams in the poor conditions.
Kilmoyley players involved in the games were Emmet Meehan, Fiachra King, Eoin McCarthy, Sean Curran, Jordan Brick, Shane Monahan, Paudie Godley, Maurice O'Connor, Robert Collins, Paudie O'Connor, Darren Godley, Robert McElligott, Eamon Dowling, Liam Claffey, Jack Sheehy, Niall Meehan, Mark Griffin.

Mixed fortunes for Kilmoyley teams 21st April'09 The Seniors threw away a five point half time lead to Abbeydorney in the final of the North Kerry league, and ended with a share of the spoils on a scoreline of Kilmoyley 2-9 Abbeydorney 1-12. Match Report soon.
Kilmoyley's Under 16s continued on their winning ways with a well earned 3-14 to 3-7 win over neighbours St. Brendans in round 3 of the Lee Strand on Tuesday evening and advanced to the semifinal of the competition. A high level of skill was produced in this game that saw this encounter in the balance up until halftime with the score then Saints 2-3 to Kilmoyley 3-5 with all but one score coming from play and that came 4 minutess from halftime.
The 2nd half started as lively as the 1st but a lack of discipline by the home side was to cost them in the end. Kilmoyley hit a purple patch hitting 5 unanswered points before the Saints' next point. Both teams swapped scoring from there to the end in this pulsating encounter. Some serious heroics in goals by Kilmoyley keeper Paudie O'Connor was one of the main reasons for their victory with score of the night from Vincent Savage who connected in the air perfectly for his 1st goal. We wish a speedy recovery to Dougie Fitzell who missed the game through injury. Final score Kilmoyley 3-14 St Brendan's 3-07.
Kilmoyley Team:Paudie O' Connor, Niall Meehan, Coleman Savage, John Godley, James Murphy, David Ryan, Eoin McCarthy, Flor McCarthy, Luke Fitzell(7pts 1f), Peter Crowe, Daniel Collins 3pts), Sean Nolan(1g), Pierce Claffey, Vincent Savage(2-03 3f), Jordan Brick, Robert McElligott.

Kilmoyley winner of Feile skills 12th April'09 Congratulations to Kilmoyley's Paudie O'Connor who won the Feile na nGael skills competition at Abbeydorney today by a comfortable margin of five points. Paudie will now represent Kerry at the National finals in Offaly and will no doubt be a worthy representative. St. Brendans defeated Lixnaw in the final.

Seniors qualify for NK league final 11th April'09 Kilmoyley have reached the North Kerry "A" league final as a result of their win over Ballyduff in Kilmoyley this evening on a scoreline of 1-18 to 2-10. Both sides fielded strong teams and as the scoreline suggests the game was entertaining, with plenty of scores througout. MATCH REPORT Kilmoyley now meet Abbeydorney in the "A" final, on Monday week in Abbeydorney at 7.45 as part of a double bill.

Under 16s earn second win 7th April'09 Despite the very blustery conditions Kilmoyley played an excellent brand of hurling to comfortably win this County league home tie against Kenmare/Kilgarvan on a scoreline of 5-11 to 0-4. The visitors used the advantage of the wind in the first half and opened the scoring with two points to settle quickly after their long journey. But Kilmoyley's reply was immediate as they levelled the scoring through Vincent Savage (free) and Daniel Collins. Kilmoyley then raced into the lead as Savage scored the first of his two goals, and Pierse Claffey added another with a lovely overhead flick. Kilmoyley were completely on top at this stage and five minutes from the break Savage scored his second goal. Although the visitors closed the half with two pointed frees, Kilmoyley led comfortably at half time by 3-2 to 0-4.
Kilmoyley started the second half with two wides but Vincent Savage converted an early free to stretch Kilmoyley's lead. The same player added another from play shortly after and the game effectively ended as a contest when Daniel Collins' long delivery found the net. He then added two further points while brother Luke raced through to score a fine goal himself. Kilmoyley finished the scoring with further points from Pierse Claffey, Dougie Fitzell and the Collins' brothers with one apiece. In the end it was a comfortable win for Kilmoyley but both teams must be commended for an excellent effort in such poor weather conditions. Kilmoyley team Paudie O'Connor, Niall Meehan, David Ryan, John Godley, Eoin McCarthy, Dougie Fitzell, James Murphy, Florence McCarthy, Luke Fitzell, Peter Crowe, Daniel Collins, Pierse Claffey, Jordan Brick, Vincent Savage, Paudie Godley, Robert McElligott.

Kilmoyley was represented on the Kerry team by Joe McElligott, Sean Dowling, Tommy Maunsell, Edmund Griffin, Tim O Brien, Conor Fitzell.
Well done to the Kilmoyley players who played with the Kerry U16s in Cork at the weekend. Colman and Vincent Savage, David Ryan, Daniel Collins and Dougie Fitzell. Luke Fitzell could not travel as he was ill.

Under 12s defeated by Causeway 3rd April'09 Kilmoyley's under 12s come up against a well organized Causeway team on Friday night and went down on the scoreline of Causeway 5-09 to Kilmoyley 0-01. This was the second week in a row that the players had to play in dire conditions that would test any senior. Fair play to all who lined out on the night especially Phil Maunsell who played in goals and was captain on the night. TEAM ; Phil Maunsell (C), Fiachra King, Emmet Meehan, Liam Claffey, Maurice O Connor, Robert Collins, Eamon Dowling, Jessica Fitzell, David McCarthy, Thomas O Sullivan, Sean Curran, Michael Leen, Kevin Crowe, Philip Flaherty, Colin O Halloran, Ronan Godley.

On Tuesday the U16s travelled to Ballyheigue to play the locals and returned home with a 4-12 to 3-12 win. On Wednesday the Intermediates faced the same club at home and had a 3-13 to 1-10 win with new recruit Joe Brennan making his debut. On Thursday the Seniors completely outplayed a very weak Lixnaw outfit in their first game of the year and emergeed with a 4-17 to 0-3 win, with Sean Dowling and Aidan McCabe making their senior debuts.

HURLING CLUB DRAW30th March '09 Kilmoyley Hurling Club is holding an Easter Draw to raise funds for the club. It is hoped to get a much support as possible for the draw.

Kerry hurlers impress in defeat30th March '09 The Kerry Senior hurlers will be disappointed that they lost their encounter with Antrim at Cusack park having scored 4-14. Kilmoyley's Pat Flaherty scored the opening goal while Shane Brick added eight points, but it wasn't enough as Antrim scored 3-19. Kerry's are relegated to Division three next year but have a final game against Westmeath at home next weekend and hope to end the campaign without a duckegg.

Defeat in Feile QF29th March '09 As the scoreline suggests, this quarter final tie was a very one sided affair with favourites St. Brendans easily advancing to the next phase of the competition at the expense of a very young Kilmoyley side. There was little between the sides in the early stages as both sides battled to gain decent posession. But once scored their first point after ten minutes they took charge of the game and punished Kilmoyley for any mistakes despite the best efforts of Kilmoyley's half back line of Paudie and Maurice O’Connor and Jordan Brick. Two first half goals for St. Brendans stretched their advantage while their impressive midfielder Fionan Horgan setup numerous attacks. A well worked team score finished by Eoin McCarthy point proved to be Kilmoyley’s only score of the half. The second half was less than a minute old when a third goal ended the game as a contest as St. Brendans eased into the semi-finals. It was a disappointing game for these young boys but they can be pleased with their efforts in getting to this stage of the competition and know that there will be better days ahead. Training will continue for under 12s and 14s on Sunday morning at 11am. Kilmoyley panel: Sean Curran, Shane Monahan, Niall Meehan, Fiachra King, Maurice O'Connor, Paudie O'Connor, Jordan Brick, Eoin McCarthy, Paudie Godley, Kieran McCarthy, Robert McElligott, Robert Collins, Eamon Dowling, Jack Sheehy, Liam Claffey, Darren Godley, Mark Griffin

National league in Kilmoyley16th March '09 The Kerry hurlers play Laois this weekend in the Allianz National league in Kilmoyley, the first National league game to be played outside Austin Stack park for a number of years. Kerry have had a poor start to the campaign with losses to Wexford, Carlow and Offaly. But it is hoped that a switch of venue to North Kerry will improve the team's fortunes, albeit against a quality side like Laois.
Two North Kerry league games have been cancelled in the past few weeks to give the field the best opportunity to be in top condition for the fixture. No doubt Michael Regan will once again have the Lerrig sod in top shape. Kilmoyley has a number of players on the Kerry panel. James Godley, James McCarthy, Colin Harris, Eoin Sheehy, Brendan Harris, Tom Murnane, Shane and Billy Brick, Pat Flaherty, Shaun Young and Adrian Royle. Best of luck to all involved.

Causeway Comprehensive win All-Ireland VEC title7th March '09 Not since 1891 had a hurling team from Kerry won an "A" All-Ireland hurling title, until the Causeway comprehensive U16 team defeated Banagher of Offaly at the Gaelic grounds by 2-8 to 1-7. Kilmoyley players featured throughout the team and were instrumental in this historic win. Congratulations to Dougie and Luke Fitzell, Daniel Collins, Sean Godley, Timothy O'Brien, and Vincent Savage as well as team physio, our own Maurice Fitzgerald. This is a great boost for Kerry hurling and a victory that will help the game grow from strength to strength.

Daly and Meyler to train Kilmoyley teams!!2nd Feb '09 There was great news for all Kilmoyley hurling supporters from the Kilmoyley hurling club AGM, held at the clubrooms last Saturday with the news that former Kilmoyley and Wexford senior trainer John Meyler had indicated that he would be available to coach the minor team this year. Meyler of course led Kilmoyley to its four in a row at the start of the decade, and then led the Wexford hurlers for two campaigns. The news is a huge boost for the club, as we now have two of Ireland's best coaches in our ranks. It is now up to the players to put the effort in at training while supporters are asked to do their bit by helping out in any possible, be it helping at the field with the underage teams, or transporting players to games. In his address, club Chairman Sean Murnane asked for more help in running the club, whether people have ten minutes ar a few hours to give, all are welcome. Because it so expensive to operate the club now, volunteers are vital for the club to continue operating at the highest level, and anyone can contribute to our success.
Also on the night, all officers of the club were returned unopposed, with Gerald Carroll being signed up as Vice Tresaurer. View all 2009 Club Officers and read the Secretary's 2008 Report and the Secretary's review of 2008

Highlight of the night was the speech by senior trainer Anthony Daly, who as everyone knew had taken over the Dublin senior hurlers for the coming season. He expressed his obvious passion for the game and his admiration of the Kilmoyley club in its pursuit of hurling excellence. Daly congratulated all the players for their effort throughout the year, and finising on a high Daly claimed that he would be on board for the coming year.
